“La ville rose”
Toulouse is the centre of my world these days, and has been for nearly twenty years. The pink city with its brick architecture, from the southern gothic churches to modern day buildings, is the capital of Occitanie
Toulouse is the country’s fourth largest city sitting pretty on the banks of the river Garonne in the South West. Occitanie is the second largest region in France after Nouvelle Aquitaine, our friendly neighbour to the west which borders the Atlantic Ocean. Toulouse is also the capital of the department of Haute Garonne, one of the 13 departments which make up the region. It is the centre of the European aerospace industry housing the Airbus HQ as well as many businesses including Thales Alenia Space, ATR, Safran, Liebherr-Aerospace and Airbus Defence and Space.

Toulouse is a big university city, with an important number of students which help to define its young dynamic vibe and keep this antique city in perpetual transformation.
The city is full of architectural treasures such as the Basilica of St. Sernin, the largest remaining Romanesque building in Europe.
The canal du midi runs through the city on its way to the Mediterranean coast as does the Way of Saint James via the Hotel Dieu Saint-Jacques.

The city’s nickname la Ville Rose comes from the unusual pink terracotta brick architecture.
A visit to the region without a visit to this remarkable, welcoming beautiful city would be a great shame for any visitor to Occitanie!
Bonne visite, enjoy your visit……………….Christina
